Our assignments are categorised by the depth of problems that exist and the degree of stakeholder commitment to an improvement programme. Typically, we deal with three situations:
Work out or turnaround
We work inside businesses aiming, ultimately, to refinance or sell. Having agreed a brief, we execute plans that deliver a strategic outcome for our client. Our work targets improvements to revenue, operating performance and/or balance sheet, resulting in increased sale price and shareholder value.
Operational performance improvement
Where the business concept is sound but the strategy has not worked, our experienced Directors can refocus activity on specific, client-orientated objectives. By addressing fundamental issues before they have become critical, we are able to prevent further decline and avoid the need for more drastic steps.
Post-acquisition integration
With outcomes notoriously difficult to predict, mergers and acquisitions constitute a significant risk for businesses and targeted benefits frequently fail to materialise. Either by leading integration activities from a pre-deal stage or reviving poorly conceived and executed acquisitions, we have been able to assist clients by taking an analytical approach in determining a robust strategy – and then implementing it.
NHS Turnaround
In addition to our extensive commercial experience, Kingsgate has rapidly built a significant presence in the NHS. Combining conventional turnaround skills with specific, targeted knowledge of healthcare provision, we have devised and led programmes in acute Trusts and PCTs.
In each case, we have been engaged as Turnaround Directors, responsible for the delivery of targeted benefits. We have worked both independently, defining the plans to effect financial recovery, and have also collaborated with consultancies to implement the findings of their analysis.
As well as fulfilling the leading roles, we are able to deploy experienced executives and managers into a variety of key positions in support of NHS Turnaround programmes, including project management.
