Our Experience
We have worked in troubled businesses since 1990, in all phases of decline - underperformance, distress and crisis - and have completed many turnarounds. We have a unique breadth of sector, function, situation and life-cycle stage experience. We have worked in both public and private enterprises and in the not-for-profit sector.
We exploit this experience on behalf of our clients.
As well as sharing turnaround experience, Kingsgate’s team has a mixed background of Board roles in the corporate environment, entrepreneurial enterprise, non-executive directorships and blue-chip management consultancy. This gives the firm a valuable combination of breadth and depth – real life know-how backed by first class intellectual and analytical capability. And we have strong relationships with other specialists whose skills complement our own.
Our Approach
Drawing on the broad cross-functional and multi-sectoral experience of our practice, we devise solutions that best fit the needs of our clients. Our ability to migrate solutions from one industry to another is a value-adding characteristic of our work, made possible by our wide experience of real-world problems and different solutions. The direct and tangible benefit that this provides in our assignments makes our approach distinctive.
Once introduced to a potential assignment, we conduct a high-level diagnosis of the issues (in conjunction with the client) to establish if we are able to help. We provide an honest and clear appraisal of the situation and an outline of what we believe needs to be done. Our experience of this type of evaluation is extensive.
Once there is agreement that Kingsgate should become involved, we usually take one pivotal Board role and begin work. A Kingsgate Director leads and works, hands-on, on every assignment, supported as necessary by Kingsgate’s own team of specialists.
