John Tiernan, aged 46
After a background in the food and drink industry, John joined PwC in 1989 and spent seven years working in a variety of executive roles in distressed situations, before becoming an independent practitioner some ten years ago. He has worked on the boards of numerous turnarounds. He specialises in businesses that are leveraged by their operation or by their service performance. John has an MBA from Warwick and has also had a series of non-executive directorships and trustee posts.
Steve Swayne, aged 45
A seasoned MD and CEO of publicly quoted companies, Steve’s track record is in leading particularly difficult turnarounds, covering electronics, computer and software businesses. He has worked throughout Europe and internationally and has director level experience in both private and public companies. With an MBA from Bradford, his functional background is in sales and marketing, project management and Supply Chain.
Declan Salter, aged 46
Having spent 20 years in the printing industry, latterly as CEO of a quoted mid-250 plc, Declan has been working in turnaround since leading a quoted plc’s portfolio of five troubled ventures. Over a ten-year period, he has worked on many projects from specialist engineering consultancy through to general manufacturing, including a PFI project. He is a Turnaround Director for the NHS. Declan has held in excess of 25 board positions and also works voluntarily in Education.
Steve Peck, aged 36, IT Leader
Steve leads Kingsgate’s IT practice area. Having worked in the turnaround environment, Steve specialises in providing clarity of information from disparate information systems and acts in the role of IT Director or Programme Manager where there are acute data problems.
Andy Scott, aged 31
Andy, a chartered accountant, trained at PwC. He has worked on a wide range of crisis and insolvency scenarios. He spent three years at a globally recognised airline driving a programme to deliver shareholder value through strategic, operational and commercial performance improvement. With an extensive background in project and change management, Andy has most recently been focusing on turnaround in the NHS.
Dr Albert Van der Wijk, aged 45
Albert's turnaround experience covers both leadership and functional directorships in large-scale situations covering R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Marketing and Sales. He has held a variety of senior management/board positions in Germany, the Netherlands, UK and Asia. He received his PhD in Physics from Groningen University, the Netherlands. Multi-lingual, he is a major contributor to our European and business strategy capability.
